Varsity Eight Boats Advance to Grand Finals at WIRAs

LAKE NATOMA, Calif. – Both varsity eight boats for the Pilots advanced to the grand final of the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Sunday while the varsity four advanced to the petit final. It's the fourth time in four seasons racing at WIRAs that the Pilots' varsity eight teams have made the Grand Final.

Portland's first varsity eight posted a time of 6:53.72 to finish third in the race. They beat Santa Clara and came up just short against San Diego and Sacramento State. Dawon Lee was the coxswain for the Pilots while Maddie Olson was the stroke.
